Elmore Leonard was a prolific author, best known for his western and crime fiction – many of his novels were subsequently adapted into films, including Jackie Brown (Tarantino), Out of Sight & Get Shorty. Many contemporary authors, including Dennis Lehane and George Pelecanos, credit Leonard’s dialogue-driven prose and gritty depictions of the criminal underworld (at the center of many of his novels), as major influences on their works & writing-styles.
