The Pixies’ Charles Thompson (Frank Black/Black Francis) – Favorite Albums

Charles Thompson is probably best known for being the front-man/singer/songwriter/guitarist of the Pixies, although he released a number of oft-overlooked albums following the Pixies’ breakup that were met with critical success under the monikers Black Francis, Frank Black, and Frank Black & The Catholics.  If you are unfamiliar with any of Thompson’s solo work, we highly recommend checking it out.  Below is a list of albums that Thompson revealed were personal favorites during an interview with The Quietus in 2012.  Feel free to click on the album image for more information (via Amazon).

Happy Soup

Sally Can’t Dance

Le Noise

Musique de la Grece Antique (Ancient Greek Music)

In a prior post, we examined the favorite books of Bruce Springsteen: Bruce Springsteen’s Favorite Books

Frank’s Wild Years

New Values

Weill: The Threepenny Opera

The Last Post

The Good, The Bad and The Queen

Peace & Harmony: The Trojan Anthology

Again, if your unfamiliar with Thompson’s solo work, we recommend checking out any of the following:
